Dental Services
Pets Need Dental Care, too...
We believe that dental care is a cornerstone of your pet’s heath as they age. We emphasize routine dental care and are happy to explain how to care for your pet’s teeth at home. With advancing age, some dental problems become more severe and require more advanced treatment. Untreated dental disease (heavy plaque or tartar, gingivitis, tooth decay and infection) can lead to heart, liver, and kidney disease in dogs and cats. The longer dental disease goes untreated the more damage is done, and the more costly it becomes to treat it. We have advanced options for dental care and have new state of the art dental equipment.
We believe quality dental care should be affordable for all pets and thus offer the lowest cost dental plans in the area. If you have a question about your pets dental health, please give us a call. We would be happy to offer your pet a free oral examination. Prevention is best, so don't ignore that bad breath. This could be your warning sign for bacteria and infection.
Tonometry
With over 40 breeds of dogs and cats possessing the breed predisposition for glaucoma, measurement of eye pressure is important in preserving your pet’s vision. A tonopen is a hand-held device for measure intraocular pressure. It is a painless and simple procedure which can accurately detect subtle rises in eye pressure.
Glaucoma needs to be treated early, preserving vision and quality of life for your pet.
ECG - Electrocardiogram
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a readout of the electrical activity of the heart. If our veterinarian hears a heart rhythm abnormality (called an arrhythmia) in your pet's heart beat, they will recommend an ECG.
The readout allows your veterinarian to accurately determine the cause and appropriate treatment for the arrhythmia. All animal that undergo and anesthetic procedure at our hospital are constantly monitored with an ECG.
Laser Declaw
Why choose laser declaw?
Laser Declawing offers the safest and most humane method for declawing your feline friend.
Using the laser instead of a scalpel provides surgery with a significant decrease in post-operative pain and swelling. The laser cauterizes blood vessels as it cuts and sears the nerve endings, this allows our veterinarians to perform surgery without the use of a tourniquet. Combining laser technology with local nerve blocks (localized pain medication), pre and post-operative pain medication your precious feline is back to normal activities much sooner than traditional surgery with a scalpel would allow. Call our veterinary office for more details.
ACL (Cruciate Ligament) Surgery
ACL is a common athletic injury in large breed and athletic dogs, a ruptured ACL involved tearing a ligament in the knee joint which prevents forward motion of the tibia. This injury commonly causes pain, lameness and swelling of the knee joint. Sometimes, an incomplete rupture may be treatment with rest and pain medications. Our veterinarians will do a thorough orthopedic exam and explain all of your pet’s options for the best outcome. When surgery is necessary, our doctors are experienced in performing ACL surgery. ACL surgery intends to reconstruct the torn or damaged ligaments in your pet's knees, allowing him to have freedom of mobility without pain. In cases of full ACL rupture, which typically occur in larger breeds of dogs or obese dogs, the ACL surgery involves a complete replacement of the ligament. This is accomplished with a synthetic substitute that is attached to your pet's knee joint.
Following ACL surgery, we employ proactive and aggressive pain relieving modalities and do everything possible to make the experience comfortable for them. We also emphasize physical therapy as we believe this leads to better outcomes. We guide owners through physical therapy with their dogs giving detailed instructions for low-impact exercises. These are be helpful in improving your dog's mobility and overall health following a surgery.
